PROBLEM

While there’s been a significant increase in demand for authentic travel experiences, most indigenous communities are not benefitting financially from increased tourism to their communities. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Organization of American States and George Washington University hosted a three-day cultural heritage tourism conference for tribal leaders and businesses from across the Americas to discuss the ways in which tribes could reclaim their cultural narratives, appeal to visitors and generate new revenue streams.

SOLUTION

I conceived of and oversaw the strategy, design and word smithing of all communication associated with the conference including promotion, the website and collateral that would reflect the brands of the three organizations while appealing to the target audience, including tribal leaders, tourism businesses and academics.
